Bringing a Lesser Known Destination to Life

  • Intro: The Hotel Wilshire, a Kimpton hotel, is a LEED-certified boutique hotel in the Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles, tucked between downtown and the Westside. It is the only deluxe property in the area and provides a needed service and amenity to the businesses and residents in the area.
  • Goals: Upon closer examination and audit with key LA media, many of them had never heard of or been to the hotel. If the hotel’s own neighbors don’t know about the property, it would be harder to successfully market the hotel outside the area. And unlike most hotels, The Hotel Wilshire’s need periods are weekends except during the summer.
  • Strategy / Tactics: Relevance PR’s strategy is to concentrate on the hotel’s backyard – reaching Angelenos through LA media, and focused on short lede digital and broadcast media who could deliver quickly. We launched 1 year anniversary packages and invited local media to experience the hotel, restaurant and area and partnered with key groups such as LA Tourism for a Museums LA media launch party, LA Consortium of Online Travel and the Social Media Club LA.
  • Results: Relevance PR has arranged for nearly 100 media to visit the hotel and coverage has appeared on NBC.com, Budgettravel.com, jetsetextra.com, KTLA-TV, KFWB, Park La Brea News, LAX Magazine, LA Confidential, thecaratdiet.com, HoopLA.com, and more, and one year after the hotel was acquired by Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, occupancy is at a record high.
